The Art Market, Holmfirth

A few weekends ago I did The Art Market  at Holmfirth.

My stand. I used painted wine boxes and old cases for display. It was the first time I had shown my new giclee prints, exciting!

There was lots of talented artists and makers there. Next to me was the imaginative Butterscotch and Beesting. I loved the stories behind this work  and I was lucky enough to do a print swap at the end of the day, so I now have my very own slice of the circus!

As always with the Art Market I got to see lots of lovely work and meet people that genuinely support and get excited by art and craft.

Private View

Little birds to The Design Shop, Dean Clough

I have some new bird paintings in the newly fitted Design Shop, Dean Clough. The shop space has been really opened up and looks great.
I have painted these birds on boards for a change and this meant I could get some nice fine lines and an opportunity to do some pencil work.

I am currently working away on some new paintings and drawings for an exhibition in the cafe area of Dean Clough. The exhibition will be up at the beginning of October. I am really pleased with how they are going and will post some images soon.

I love painting Oxford, it is such an inspiring city. I have also sent these screen prints as I thought they fitted well with the paintings.

Heart Gallery, Hebden Bridge

I'm really pleased to have some new paintings in the gorgeous Heart Gallery, Hebden Bridge.

If you have never visited its well worth it. The gallery has beautiful jewellery, ceramics, paintings, prints and textiles to name but a few of the lovely things.

Screenprinting at home

I am still trying to perfect the art of screenprinting at home, using a screen and stencils. I wanted to do something based on my hometown of Hebden Bridge, in the hope that I will get a little collection together.

I mixed my inks and made lots of stencils. However I always struggle with exactness of printing and instead of tracing each stencil from a master drawing...I kind of guessed (bad move). So my print was a bit all over the place. Here is the redeemed version, with some hand painting over the top (to fill in the gaps!). Which I do like.

So maybe printing and painting combined is the solution for me!

Emley Show

Yesterday I was a judge at the Emley Show. I judged the childrens' art category with illustrator and photographer Mike Barrett. It was much harder than we thought as the work was so good!

I felt very official with my badge.

This was one of the first prize pictures.

I loved this collection of animals, which was called 'Animal Magic'.

I also had a good look around the show and drew lots of animals..

as always the birds were my favourite to draw.

I loved the collections of eggs.

Overall a great day on Emley Moor!

Brighton bound.

The other week I went to Brighton my old home town! When we arrived the weather was wild, but I have always liked the beach when it is less hectic and a bit stormy...

We braved the Pier and I managed to snap this wave.

We walked everywhere; through the Lanes, Kemp Town, Hove and Seven Dials.

The next day there was blue skies, and I sketched on the beach..

Then it was time to go home!

Open House Exhibition

This weekend I am opening my house and exhibiting my paintings, prints and cards. Many paintings are discounted for this weekend only!

Billy the cat has been keeping an eye on all my visitors!

Alison from the stunning Heart Gallery gave me these beautiful flowers.
